Imam Hussein (a.s.) saw a slave eating a morsel of
food and then giving a morsel to a dog near him. The
Imam asked the slave the reason why he was feeding
the dog. The slave said that I feel ashamed to eat
without feeding the dog.
The Imam asked the slave to wait until he returned,
and went to the slave's master, and bought the slave
and the piece of land on which he worked from his
master. Then he freed the slave. Thus the slave achieved
his freedom as well as becoming the owner of a piece
of land due to his kindness to the dog. (KUNOOZ AL
